Who we are

OUR MISSION – The Second Congregational United Church of Christ takes its inspiration from Ezekiel 34:16 “I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed. . .”

Oh how easy it is to get lost! With our cell phones and iPads, our 24-hour news cycles, there’s virtually nowhere to go for a moment of peace and quiet. That’s where our Church comes in. We provide a holy place of respite in the tumult of life. So come, put aside the cares of the week and find yourself in the presence of God.

WHO WE ARE: MANY FACES, ONE FAITH

We are an open and affirming church. We affirm that every person has sacred worth as a unique creation made in the image of God. We welcome in a spirit of hospitality all who seek to follow Jesus. As a congregation we invite people of every age, race, ethnicity, national origin, faith background, marital status and family structure, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, mental and physical ability, socioeconomic status, and educational background to share in the life, leadership, ministry, fellowship, worship, sacraments, responsibilities, blessings, and joys of our church family. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.

Rev. Sally

Sally began attending the Jeff Church in the fall of 2001 and soon after found herself being called into ordained ministry — she was ordained in our church on September 18, 2016 and was installed as our pastor, preacher and teacher on October 13, 2024.

Pastor Sally graduated from ANTS in 2014 after a 35+ year career in healthcare. Her call to ministry is rooted in her passion and gifts for social justice and pastoral care.

Pastor Sally believes ‘church’ is a unique community because of its focus on faith in God through Jesus Christ. It is a place and a community of people who worship together and serve our community together. She also believes that to claim the name ‘Christian’, we are obligated to seek a world in which the powers that be are questioned and to imagine, hope, and seek to create a more just, equitable, and loving world.

Pastor Sally has lived in Cambridge since 1991.

“They have shown you, O Mortal, what does God require of you? To do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” -Micah 6:8
